Associate Professor Rosemary Purcell
Rosemary Purcell (M.Psych, PhD) is a Senior Research Fellow and Team Leader of the Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, lead by Orygen Youth Health Research Centre in conjunction with headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Before joining Orygen in 2005, Dr Purcell worked in forensic mental health, specialising in the assessment and treatment of stalking victims and stalkers. Along with colleagues, she co-authored Stalkers and their Victims (Cambridge University Press, 2000), which won the prestigious Manfred S. Guttmacher Award from the American Psychiatric Association for outstanding contribution to the literature on forensic psychiatry. A second edition of the book is due for publication in 2009. At the Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, Dr Purcell oversees a large program focusing on the mapping, translation and implementation of evidence relating to treatments for mental health problems in young people aged 12-25 years. Dr Purcell has over 50 publications in forensic mental health and early intervention in youth mental health, and in addition to her role at Orygen, is Managing Editor of Early Intervention in Psychiatry (Wiley-Blackwell).
