Neuropsychological and neurobiological effects of heavy long-term cannabis use
Cannabis is the most widely used illicit drug in the developed world. Despite this, there is a paucity of research examining the long-term impact of cannabis on the human brain. We have a number of studies ongoing to help determine whether long-term and heavy cannabis use is associated with neurocognitive and gross anatomical abnormalities in the brain, as well as to what extent neurocognitive and anatomical differences predispose people for a lifetime trajectory of long-term cannabis use. These projects are in collaboration with Dr Nadia Solowij at the University of Wollongong. Data analyses are currently being conducted.
