Inhibitory control over cognition and behaviour in addiction: A neuropsychological examination

Chronic drug users frequently report cravings for alcohol/drugs even years after ceasing use, and some researchers suggest that craving may be an important factor in maintaining ongoing drug-taking. This project assesses the decision-making abilities of a sample of chronic heroin users, and seeks to determine the effect of craving on these processes. This project also examines the relationship between cognitive performance and aspects of compulsive drug use. Recruitment for the study has now been completed, and data analysis is underway.
