PACE 400
Medium to long term outcomes of ultra high risk mental states.
Clinical Investigators: Prof Alison Yung, Dr Barnaby Nelson, Dr Debra Foley, Dr Shona Francey
This project aims to follow-up all PACE patients involved in research between 1995 and 2005. It builds on a unique data set collected on over 400 individuals who presented to the PACE clinic who were defined as being at Ultra High Risk (UHR) of developing a psychotic disorder in the near future. This study aims to follow up the cohort to determine their medium to long term outcome (5 to 15 years). Variables of interest include the proportion of the sample who developed a psychotic disorder, the proportion who developed a non-psychotic disorder, sub-threshold symptomatic and functional outcomes, predictors of onset of psychotic disorder, neurocognitive functioning, brain structure, and genetic markers. The association between all of these variables will also be assessed.
This is a major study focused on the prediction of progression to later stages of illness, and factors associated with deterioration or remission of the UHR state.
